Came across Ace Norton today (best name ever!!) while looking at videos of (the man of my dreams) Sebastien Tellier.
Sebastien Tellier - La Ritournelle by Ace Norton
A very depressing story is told, and all though some parts show happy times of peoples' lives, you can't help but feel sickly sad.
You can tell that the locations have been chosen for their realness, and it appeals to me as they're very typically american and foreign.
The transition between stop motion photography and film adds a different dimension to the flow as stop frame work I've seen in the past maintains the jerky style throughout.
'Ace' has also done a few of the recent coca-cola adverts...
and also this for the collaboration of M.Ward and Zoe Deschanel 'She & Him' which collaborates film with animation. yesssss
Another Sebastien Tellier video directed by Ace Norton is for the song Divine...
He casts different people as Sebastien in different situations.
The whole look reminds me of the video for Snoop Dogg's Sexual Seduction directed by 'Melina' who is part of the Black Dog Films company... you can see more of her stuff in better quality, and see other directors who are part of the company at this website.
Which has a similar early 80's style to the Kanye West video for Flashing lights directed by ol' time Spike Jonze. He still got it!
This is just a video I love to watch and makes me want to walk in slow motion and set things of fire and kill a man with a shovel. Ahhh The the power of media and the subconscious mind!
